14-year-old girl set ablaze over refusal to marry

Rajkot, Mar 13 (UNI) A 14-year-old girl was allegedly burnt to death by a man at Santoshinagar here following her refusal to marry him.

The accused, Haresh alias Muno Meram Boricha, entered the house of the victim, Aarti, last evening when she was alone and insisted that she marry him. Aarti's refusal enraged Haresh and he set the girl aflame after dousing her with kerosene, police said.

Aarti was admitted to the civil hospital in a critical condition and succumbed to her injuries today.

In her dying declaration, Aarti said Haresh had set her afire as she had refused to marry him.

Later, the relatives of the girl attacked Haresh for his misdeed therefore he too was admitted to the civil hospital with injuries, police said.
