UNI stringer assault: MP CM's assurance
Bhopal, Mar 12 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today assured that proper action would be taken after an inquiry into an assault on and harassment of a senior journalist of Sehore district.
The assurance came when a delegation of the local Central Press Club submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister. The memo described as ''shameful'' the targeting of UNI stringer Ramnarayan Tamrakar, allegedly at the district administration's behest.
Mediapersons sported black badges today as a mark of protest.
The memo demanded suspension of Collector Raghavendra Singh, free treatment and compensation for Mr Tamrakar.
The scribe was targeted by a team of police and administrative officials after he issued news regarding a dispute between the Collector and a parliamentarian's driver.
Mr Tamrakar's establishment was demolished on March 10 after being labelled an ''encroachment,'' he was dragged along the road and beaten all the way to a police station.
