Three coinvicted in a gang rape case

Rourkela, Mar 12 (UNI) Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Rourkela Niranjan Sahu today convicted three persons for rape and sentenced them to rigorious imprisonment ranging from seven to 13 years.

The court convicted Pagal Hati (23) and Chhotu Singh (22) of Kumbharpada under Bandhamunda Police station for their involvement of gangrape of a girl of the same area.

The court sentenced the duo to 13 years and six months of RI u/s 376 (2)(g), 458,and 506 of the IPC.

The court also convicted and sentenced one Rintu Singh (29) to seven years RI u/s 376 of IPC.

As per the prosecution while Pagal and Chhotu broke upon the house of the girl and gang raped her in the intervening night of September 26 and 27,2004, Rintu Singh raped girl four days later at Kapatmunda at his brother's residence.

The court also directed the culprits to pay a fine of Rs 2000 on each count and in default to undergo RI for six months more.
