Stir against North Indian impacts GM's plant in Pune
Mumbai, Mar 12 (UNI) The agitation against north Indians in Maharashtra had an impact on the new plant of General Motors, coming up at Talegaon, near Pune.
GM India President and MD Karl Slym said when the agitation was at its peak, the migrant workers at the construction site of the USD 300 million new plant did leave the spot.
''It is a thing of the past'' he said adding that the company currently had no problems and the plant was coming up on schedule for commencing trial production next week.
The trial production had been advanced by a few weeks, a spokesman for the company told UNI.
The commercial production would start in the last quarter of 2008.
