Seven get life term in three-decade-old Chirrudih massacre case

Jamtara, Mar 12 (UNI) A local Court today awarded life term to seven accused in the more than three-decade-old Chirrudih massacre case related to the killing of eleven people.

Jamtara's First Class Additional and District Sessions Judge of Arun Kumar, pronounced the quantum of punishment.

The court on March 6 acquitted former Coal Minister Sibu Soren and 13 others in the massacre, which occurred on January 23, 1975.

The court acquitted them on ''benefit of doubt''.

Altogether 21 people were under trial.

Besides killing of 11 people, dozens of houses were torched at Chirrudih under Narayanpur police station in the district.
