Sect 17 ground to be developed as Exhibition Ground: Mayor

Chandigarh, Mar 12 (UNI) Chandigarh Mayor Pardeep Chhabra today said that the Circus Ground located at Sector 17 will be developed as Exhibition Ground.

It would have all the facilities including side wall, lights, toilet blocks, rainwater pipes etc similar to the facilities provided in parade ground, sector 17.

Mr. Chhabra in a statement issued here today after a meeting with the officers of Municipal Corporation said that the ground will be a good earning source of the Municipal Corporation.

He said that it was also decided to modernize the remaining seven Dhobighats during this financial year.

The decision was taken place after the success of the 1st Laundry Mart at Sector 15-D, which was inaugurated on January 18, 2008. He said that the laundry mart has been started on 'no profit no loss' basis for one year.

He further said that the modernisation of remaining Dhobighats had been included in the current financial budget. He instructed the concerned officers to take up the issue after listening to the washermen associations, so that their requirements would also be fulfilled.
