Samajwadi and BJP MPs demand action against BSP's offensive CDs
New Delhi, Mar 12 (UNI) Samajwadi Party and BJP MPs in the Rajya Sabha came on the same side today demanding withdrawal of an offensive Compact Disc sponsored by a ruling Bahujan Samaj Party MP in Uttar Pradesh which projected Lord Rama, Lord Krishna and other mythological figures in bad light.
Raising the issue as Zero Hour mention, Samajwadi Party MP Amar Singh and BJP MP Kalraj Mishra said the CD titled 'Teesri Azadi' was offending the sensibilities of even sane minded people who might create a riotous situation in the country. The CDs, which had been shown on several news channels for the last few days, should be banned as they were capable of sowing seeds of caste discontentment.
Mr Singh said Lord Rama, Lord Krishna, Goddess Sita and other epic characters were model figures and it would create rage in the society if somebody stepped upon the cultural sensibilities of the nation. The case had been handed over to the CBI and the contents of the CD should be investigated, he said.
Mr Mishra, in a separate motion, said the CD brought out by Bheemrao Samaj Sudhar Sanstha projected the epic characters by their caste names and were projecting them as anti-dalits. ''This can't be tolerated. The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has to step in and stop the television channels from rolling the offensive stuff,'' he demanded.
