Navy controlled Goa airport not affected due to strike

Panaji, Mar 12 (UNI) Air traffic at the Indian Navy controlled Dhabolim airport in Goa remained unaffected today despite the strike by a section of the employees of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) here as part of their nation-wide agitation.

AAI station Director Paul Manickam said that all flights were on time even as 30 group B and C employees belonging to clerical, administrative and housekeeping staff struck work as part of the national stir against closure of old airport following the opening of greenfield airports at Hyderabad, Bangalore and other places.

''This airport under the control of the Navy, is working normally with no disruption to flight operations. This includes fire services and other operations besides air traffic control,'' he added.

As many as 35 flights including foreign chartered flights operate every day through this airport, carrying mostly tourists, domestic and foreign.
