Tripura Governor administers oath to pro-tem Speaker
Agartala, March 11 (UNI) Tripura Governor Dinesh Nandan Sahaya today administered the oath of office and secrecy to sixth term winner CPI(M) MLA Samir Deb Sarkar as pro-tem Speaker of the Tenth Assembly at Raj Bhawan here.
The State government had proposed the name of Mr Deb Sarkar as pro-tem Speaker yesterday after assuming office, led by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.
Mr Deb Sarkar would administer the oath of secrecy to the newly elected MLAs soon.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister held his first Cabinet meeting of the newly formed government last evening and discussed the aims and targets of the sixth Left Front government while urging his Cabinet colleagues to continue the pro-people and development work to make the State a model before the country.
Briefing about the Cabinet meeting, Mr Sarkar told mediapersons here today that the Cabinet had proposed to commence the first session of the Assembly from March 17 to pass the vote on account and supplementary budget.
''We were confident that the Left Front would retain power with overwhelming mandate but did not prepare the full budget for 2008-09, as it is the task of the new governemnt and we will do it shortly,'' Mr Sarkar said.
