Setu: Ram mahotsav in MP
Bhopal, Mar 11 (UNI) A Ram Mahotsav will be celebrated in Madhya Pradesh's villages, starting from April 7 to 14 in support of a demand that the Centre declare the Ram Setu a heritage monument.
''The demand was raised by monks who converged here from various parts of Madhya Pradesh. They are anguished over the Centre's first withdrawing a Setu-linked affidavit from the Supreme Court and then resubmitting it after minor changes,'' Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Ashok Tiwari told reporters today.
Pointing out that the Setu was not only a centre of faith but also played a key role as protector from natural calamities such as tsunamis, he said it was also rich in biodiversity.
A day-long meeting witnessed announcement of 41 members for the VHP's Margdarshak Mandal. The monks expressed concern over conversion, infiltration, cow slaughter, neglect of Sanskrit, etc.
