Sec 144 still in force in Howrah
Howrah, Mar 11 (UNI) Life came back to normal in Millbazar under Panchla police station area here today after widespread violence since Sunday night that left around 20 injured.
Section 144 CrPC, which was imposed yesterday, will be lifted tomorrow for 12 hours from 0600 hrs, police said.
Official sources said the Rapid Action Force and Eastern Frontier Rifles would remain in the area.
Police said seven people had been arrested in connection with the violence that erupted late on Sunday night, following a dispute over gold transaction in a jewellery shop in the area.
At least 15-20 people were injured and about 50 houses and shops vandalised.
Meanwhile, an all party peace rally would be taken out tomorrow to instil confidence among the people.
