Petition on reinclusion of land into EFL limit admitted

Kochi, Mar 11 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today admitted a petition, challenging the reinclusion of Merchiston land under the purview of Ecologically Fragile Land (EFL).

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice H L Dattu and Justice K T Sankaran posted the case for further hearing to April 9.

Estate owner Xavy Mano Mathew had filed the petition.

Chief Conservator of Forests, the custodian of the land, had passed an order on January 8, reincluding the estate under the purview of EFL land.

The estate was sold to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to construct a space institute, which had kicked up a controversy.
