Kapurthala Rail Coach factory Chief Engineer held for graft
New Delhi, Mar 11 (UNI) A Chief Engineer at the Kapurthala Rail coach factory was arrested by the CBI while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh, the agency said today.
Sleuths of the anti-corruption Branch arrested Chief Engineer (Civil) J K Singla who had demanded Rs 7 lakh from a contractor for official favours.
The contractor, engaged in erection of pre-fabricated structures of sheds in the Rail Coach Factory, filed a complaint that Singhal was demanding money.
The accused had threatened the complainant that if the bribe was not paid his contract would be cancelled.
The first instalment of the entire amount was being paid to Singhal when he was arrested.
The CBI is conducting searches at the residence and office of the accused.
