Huge cache containing Chinese grenades, UBGL recovered from reasi
Jammu, Mar 11 (UNI) Security forces today recovered a haul of arms and ammunition, including Chinese grenades, UBGLs, AK 47 and 57 rifles, from Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources here said.
''On the disclosure of two surrendered militants on March 9 in Reasi district, police, along with 54 Rashtriya Rifles, busted a hideout and recovered a big haul of ammunition in Nari-Sangar area before it could be shifted to some other place by the militants,'' Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi Jia Lal Sharma told UNI.
''This was one of the biggest recoveries from the area and has somehow affected the militants outfit operating in the area,'' he said.
Meanwhile, Defence spokesman Lt Col S D Goswami told UNI that the recovery made by the security forces in the last 24 hours on the disclosure of the surrendered militants included 4 AK rifles, 27 AK magazines, 2 Chinese pistol, 3 pistol magazine, 2 RCID, 5 hand grenades, 3 UBGL grenades, 1 wireless set, 3 i-com, 9 wireless set antennae, 107 electronic detonator, ammunition including 785 rounds, 5 pouches, 2 bandoliers, 1 calculator, 1 audio cassette, 1 mobile battery and pocket diaries.
''On March 9, after surrendering before the security forces, the militants laid down the arms and ammunition, which included 2 AK 47/56, 2 Chinese pistol, 21 ak magazine, 3 pistol magazine, 303 rifles 1, 1 RCIED, 2 Chinese grenades, 3 UBGL grenades, 2 Pak hand grenades, 6 antennae, 1 mobile battery charger, 3 pouches, 2 bandoliers, 1 calculator, 1 audio cassette, 8 pistol rounds, 250 AK rounds, 3 RPG rounds, 1 wireless set, 2 i-com ,'' he said.
