HC observation vindicates BJP's stand on Kannur: Krishna Das
Kozhikode, Mar 11 (UNI) Hailing the Kerala High Court's observation on political violence in Kannur, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today said it vindicated the party's demand for deployment of Central forces in the trouble-torn Kannur district.
Talking to newspersons here, BJP state unit President P K Krishna Das said the observation made by Mr Justice V Ramakumar was also against the government, which had ''failed to contain violence.'' In the wake of the observation, it would be appropriate on the part of CPI (M) State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan to come out with the party's stance on the issue for the information of the people.
The High Court today observed that the only solution to political murders in Thalasserry in Kannur district of the state appeared to be timely intervention by the Centre with deployment of sufficient forces who would not yield to those in power and out of power.
Accusing the Opposition Congress-led United Democratic Front in the state for ''backing'' the CPI (M) on violence in Kannur, he said it was evident from their joint move to oppose the BJP, which raised the issue in Parliament during the last two days.
Denying his party's involvement in the violence, he, however, said, it would support innocent party cadres, who were made victims in the case.
Stating that the BJP would wholeheartedly support peace initiative in the district, he said it would take a decision on participating in an all-party meeting only after the government took a decision on the issue.
