Govts attempting to scrap Panchayati Raj system: MPTCS
Tirupati, Mar 11(UNI) Andhra Pradesh MPTCS Association president Yelamanchali Babu Rajendra Prasad today accused the Centre and the State Government of non-implementation of the Constitutional Amendment Acts 73 and 74 of Panchayati Raj and alleged that the State Government was trying to scrap the system.
Talking to newspersons here, he said though allocation of funds for MPTCs in the state budget was increasing every year, it was inadequate for the development of villages.
Mr Prasad said 78 per cent of land in the State was administered by MPTCS and added that 72 per cent of the population was living in villages.
MPTCS is demanding an increase in allocation of funds by Rs four lakh every year to take up development works in various constituencies, he added.
