Government not to be vindictive on PTA appointments: Dhiman
Shimla, Mar 11 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Education Minister Ishawar Dass Dhiman today said the government had received the report of the one-man Inquiry Committee into the appointments under PTA during the previous Congress Government and would examine it thoroughly before taking any action.
''We will consider everything sympathetically and take action wherever eligibility criterion has been given a go by in the PTA appointments. We will look into queries by the Inquiry Committee also,'' he said in reply to a question by Gangu Ram Musafir, Harsh Wardhan Chauhan, Kaul Singh Thakur (all Congress) and Virender Kanwar and Baldev Sharma (BJP).
Mr Dhiman said the government was not being vindictive on the issue. The eligible teachers on PTA can even apply against the 18,000 posts of teachers that were to be filled up by the state government in the next financial year.
Giving details, he said from April one, 2003 to November 30, 2007, as many as 6806 teachers of different categories, including 148 college lecturers and 2620 school lecturers, were appointed on PTA basis in different districts in the state.
He said the government had received several complaints against these appointments. About 259 cases of appointments in violation of the recruitment norms were pending in the courts also.
