Dam leading to prosperity in Dudhgarh village

Panchkula, Mar 11 (UNI) The construction of a dam at Dudhgarh village, 25 km from here, two years ago by the District Forest Department has unlocked the way to prosperity for farmers of this village.

With this dam, constructed over an area of 53.49 hectares at a cost of Rs 30 lakh, the farmers are able to irrigate about 100 acres of land. Before the construction of this dam, the farmers of the village, which has 90 households with total population of 500 persons, had to depend on rains for irrigation of their crops but now with this dam their crops are safe.

Village sarpanch Ms Kirana said "Agriculture is the main occupation of the village folk and many a times due to scanty rains, the farmers reached on the verge of hunger. However, the dam has made life a lot more easier for the farmers as now they always have the water to irrigate their crops." One of the farmers of this village, Roshan Lal, said that after the construction of this dam he had reaped heavy benefits with his Rabi and Kharif crops.
