DAE, UCIT to set up Centre for Chemical Engineering
Mumbai, Mar 11 (UNI) The Atomic Energy Commission has approved the establishment of a Centre for Chemical Engineering and Education and Research at the University Institute of Chemical Technology (UICT) here.
A Memorandum of Understanding for setting up the Centre, jointly by Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and the UCIT, will be signed here on March 13, a DAE release said here today.
The Centre would have separate infrastructures built during the 11th and 12th five year plan periods and would induct about 100 Ph.D scholars, guided by UCIT faculty. The Centre would also support a number of collaborative research programmes of DAE and some from outside DAE.
The main purpose of setting up the Centre is the need for developing new and multidisciplinary technologies relating to nuclear fuel cycle and reactors, where chemical engineering plays a major role, the release added.
