CPI (Maoist) AOB member killed in encounter
Vizianagaram, Mar 11 (UNI) CPI (Maoist) Andhra-Orissa Border (AOB) Special Zone Committee Member Chokkari Gangaram alias Jagabandu alias Komma was killed in an encounter at Gummalakshmipuruam mandal here late last night.
District Superintendent of Police Vikram Singh Mann told newspersons here today that the encounter took place when two persons on a two-wheeler opened fire at a night patrolling team, which tried to intercept them.
While the pillion rider was shot dead, the other escaped.
Police launched manhunt for Jagabandu in connection with the killing of four CRPF men in 2005 at Kuneru Railway Station.
Meanwhile, security was tightened in the district following the state-wide bandh called by the Maoists on March 14.
