Bhardwaj introduces Bill on delimitation
New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) Law Minister H R Bhardwaj today introduced in the Lok Sabha the Representation of the People (Amendment) Bill, 2008, which seeks implementation of the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission on redrawing of Lok Sabha and assembly constituencies in the country, barring five states -- Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Nagaland and Jharkhand.
The Bill also seeks to empower the Election Commission to conduct the delimitation exercise in the North-East states as soon as the conditions become conducive.
