Workshop on snake handling in Tamil Nadu

Chennai, Mar 10 : Chennai zoo recently conducted a workshop on snake handling for forest and fire officials in the State.

Dr. P. Kannan, Environmental Education Officer, Chennai Snake Park, said this training would help wildlife rangers in reptile identification, handling of snake bite emergencies as well as capturing and subsequent care of problem reptiles.

Education and awareness are considered essential for minimizing dangers to both rescue personnel and rescued reptiles.

Around 250 forest and fire service officials benefited from the programme.
