Rupee further weakens to 40.69/70 against USD

Mumbai, Mar 10: The Rupee today further lost against US Dollar to 40.69/70 tracking the down-trend in the Indian equity market on negative global cues.

The partially convertible Indian currency opened the session weaker than its previous close of 40.53/54 per dollar. The local unit slipped to more than six-months as the Asian as well as Indian stock market plunged on heightening fears of global economy recession have sparked concern that overseas investors would sell local equity holdings and repatriate their funds, dealers said.
