Mah Govt widens scheme for shoe repairers

Mumbai, Mar 10 (UNI) The Maharashtra government has widened a scheme to give tin sheet stall to shoe repairers (gatai) for A and B Class Municipal Council, Cantonment Board and Municipal Corporation areas.

The scheme to give tin sheet stall on 100 per cent grant basis to shoe repairers has been implemented in Gram Panchayat and Municipal Council areas.

According to Government decision, dated February 13, the scheme for Municipal Council and Municipal Corporation areas has been widened.

Shoe repairers are given Rs 500 cash for tin sheet stall on 100 per cent grant basis for their protection from sun, air and rain and economic progress. To avail this facility, candidate should not be less than 18 years of age, should be domicile of Maharashtra and belongs to Scheduled Caste. Annual family income of the applicant should not be more than Rs 40,000 in case of rural areas and in case of urban areas not more than Rs 50,000.

The place where the stall is demanded must be on rent or purchased on agreement or free, but should be in authorised position or on self-ownership, it added.
