Enhance Advocates Welfare Fund : KLC
Kottayam, Mar 10 (UNI) Leaders of Kerala Lawyers Congress (KLC) today urged the state government to raise the advocates welfare fund to Rs five lakh from the present three lakh.
At a press conference here today, KLC leaders T C Thomas, Kuncheria Kuzhiveli and James Kadavan said under the Advocates Act (section 30), lawyers had the freedom to appear before all courts, from Tribunal to Supreme Court but these rights were denied in the laws enacted recently.
The state conference of the KLC to be held here on March 15, would chalkout plans against the 'wrong actions' of the state government and in support of its demands, they said.
Kerala Congress leader K M Mani, MLA, would inaugurate the conference, the leaders said.
