Committee constituted for Shahu, Phule, Ambedkar awards
Mumbai, Mar 10 (UNI) A Selection Committee under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister has been constituted for selection of institutions for the Shahu, Phule and Ambedkar Awards.
State Government had taken decision of giving the prestigious award, which constitutes a cash award of Rs one crore to urban and rural local self-government institutions, voluntary organisations, Government Departments and Co-operative organisations for their outstanding contribution to improve social justice in the State in the year 2005.
Deputy Chief Minister is Vice-Chairman of the Committee, while Secretary (social justice) is the Member-Secretary.
Minister for Finance, Minister for Social Justice, Chief Secretary, former vice-chancellor of Mumbai University Snehlata Deshmukh, Pune University vice-chancellor Dr Narendra Jadhav, former Editor of the daily Lokmat Madhukar Bhave are the other members of the Committee.
