Century old idols worth Rs 20 cr seized, 3 caught
Barabanki, Mar 10 (UNI) Police here today claimed to have busted a notorious idols' smuggling syndicate with the arrest of its three members possessing ancient 'ashtadhatu' idols worth Rs 20 crore in the international market.
On being tipped-off, cops swooped upon the criminals near a railway crossing, Superintendent of Police Pravin Kumar said.
Besides, 25 kg 'ashtadhatu' idol of Lord Ram-Janki and Lord Narayan-Laxmi were recovered from their possession.
On March 3, the trio had stolen the precious idols from an ancient temple in Asandhara area.
