Bomb blast in Colombo leaves one dead, 4 hurt

Colombo, Mar 10: At least one civilian was killed and four school children were wounded in a bomb explosion here this morning, military said. ''An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) kept inside a flower vase along the Galle main road near Wellawatte exploded around 0655 hrs (local time) this morning, killing one civilian on the spot and wounding four school children,'' Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara told to the sources over phone.

The wounded children were rushed to the Kalubowila government Hospital while the troops have cordoned off the blast site for investigation, he said. One of the wounded children was in a critical condition, Kalubowila hospital sources added.
