Quake of 4.3 intensity rocks Saurastra, Kutch

Ahmedabad, Mar 9 (UNI) Panic gripped people when a minor earthquake was experienced in the entire Saurashtra and Kutch region this evening.

Tremors measuring 4.3 on the Richter Scale, originated at 1640 hrs and lasted a few seconds, according to the official sources.

Rajkot Residence Deputy Collector Mehul Dave told UNI that the earthquake was felt for a few seconds at several places like Rajkot city, Rajkot Rural, Jamnagar, Vankaner, Malia Miana and other places in Saurashtra region.

Mr Dave said, ''Though the quake was felt at many places, no human lives or property were lost.'' Meanwhile, a report from Kutch said, the quake was felt at Bhuj, Rapar, Bhachau and other places. But the intensity of it was felt more in eastern part of Kutch.

The epicenter of the quake was located near Rapar town in Kutch.

People evacuated their houses on experiencing the tremors but returned after a few minutes.
