Murder charges against 6 in Vinchur riot case
Nashik, Mar 9 (UNI) A case of murder has been registered today against former Chairman of Nashik Zilla Parishad Pandharinath Thore and five others in the Vinchur riot case.
Forty-year-old Ramdas Dareker was killed and 15 others, including a policeman, were injured in a clash between two groups over land dispute at Vinchur town in Niphad taluka of the district on March 7.
The case has been registered under section 302 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Pandharinath and members of his group - Sudam Thore, Balasaheb Naik, Sanjay Naik, Amol Thore and Babu Naik for causing the death of Ramdas during the clash.
Police have arrested as many as 42 people in connection with the matter. Pandharinath and his brother Sudam are recuperating at a private hospital in the city.
Meanwhile, funeral of Ramdas was held at Vinchur yesterday.
The situation remained peaceful but tense throughout the day. A voluntary 'bandh' was observed in the town yesterday.
