Munde, Raje, Mathur to hold discussion with BJP high command

Jaipur, Mar 9 (UNI) BJP General Secretary Gopinath Munde, state President Omprakash Mathur and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje have been authorised to finalise nominees for three Rajya Sabha seats from the state, in consultation with the party high command.

The first round of discussions was held at the party state head quarters here last evening. Mr Munde, Mr Mathur, Ms Raje, party treasurer and sitting MP Ramdas Agarwal, former state president and sitting MP Lalit Kishore Chaturvedi, Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria, Civil Supply Minister Ghanshyam Tiwari and other leaders participated in the meeting.

The meeting authorised Mr Munde, Mr Mathur and Ms Raje to suggest to the high command the names of candidates keeping the larger interests of the party in mind, a BJP spokesman said.

The three leaders would hold a final round of discussions with the party high command in New Delhi on March 11. The names of the candidates would be announced by the BJP Election Committee on the same day.

Elections for the three Rajya Sabha seats from the state, are to be held on March 26. As per the present party position in the Rajasthan Assembly BJP is in a position to win two seats while Congress can win one.
