CPI(M) to raise BJP-RSS attack issue in Parliament tomorrow
New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) Describing today's attack on the CPI(M) national headquarters here by BJP-RSS workers as ''fascist and premeditated'', CPI(M) General Secretray Prakash Karat said the party was going to raise the issue in Parliament tomorrow in a big way.
''This is not the way to settle political scores in a democracy.
The matter should be taken up by Parliament immediately,'' said Mr Karat at a press conference after the Party's Central Committee meetings.
Stating that the way BJP people behaved today was not expected of the cadres of a national party, he called upon the RSS and BJP to do some introspection over their action. The CPI(M) leader also urged other national parties to take up the issue at various fora.
The attack, said to be in reaction to the bloody clashes between the two outfits in the Left-ruled Kerala over the week, left four Central Committee members injured and property damaged.
Mr Karat said the BJP and the RSS should know that four of his party workers had been killed in Kerala in the clashes between the two outfits.
The state Chief Minister was handling the situation and Home Minister Shivraj Patil was also seized of the matter, so there was no reason that some people should take the law into their hands, he said.
Central Committee members Nilotpal Basu and Polit Bureau Member Sitaram Yechuri later told reporters the Party had lodged a named FIR against BJP leaders and known RSS figures. He said 10 people had been detained.
They said the attack was unprovoked. ''Our leaders were just talking to the police, when Mr Jagdish Mukhi, Mr Mangeram Garg, Mr Pawan Sharma, and Ms Aarti Mehra of the Deldi BJP unit came up and started it all,'' he said.
Police had impounded three cars which were full of stones, the CPI(M) leaders said.
