Advocates, BJD men injured in police lathicharge

Sambalpur, Mar 9 (UNI) A bandh called by the Western Orissa lawyers Association, demanding a permanent bench of the High Court in the region, turned violent forcing the police to resort to lathicharge in which some lawyers and ruling BJD activists were injured.

Police said some members of the BJD who had come to attend the ''Krushak Samavesh'' at Bargarh had some arguments with lawyers during the bandh. The situation turned tense after sometime and the police had to resort to lathi charge to disperse the advocates and the BJD activists.

Barring this incident, the bandh was peaceful. Most of the business establishments remained closed for the whole day due to the bandh. The movement of vehicles and trains was also affected.

Meanwhile, the impact of the bandh was partial in Jharsuguda and Balangir.
