One killed as Pak bound train rams into tractor-trolley
Amritsar, Mar 8 (UNI) One person was killed and two others sustained injuries when a Pakistan - bound goods train rammed into the tractor-trolley in which they were traveling at an unmanned level crossing near Gharinda on the Amritsar-Attari section this morning.
Railway sources here said that poor visibility due to dense fog was the reason for the accident. The driver of the tractor failed to notice the approaching train due to the fog.
The train hit the trolley after the tractor had crossed the railway line. Avtar Singh a resident of Burj village who was seated in the trolley died on the spot while two others were injured.
The injured identified as Lakhwinder Singh and Pargat Singh were admitted in the Guru Nanak hospital of the Medical College here. In all there were seven people riding on the trolley.
A case was registered by the Railway police and the dead body after post - mortem was handed over to the relatives of the deceased.
