One dead, 18 injured in bus-train collision near Rohtak
New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) One person died and 18 others were injured when the Avadh Assam Express today collided against a bus at a level crossing on Rohtak-Delhi section of the Northern railway.
All the victims were passengers of the Rajasthan-registered bus.
The deceased has been identified as Rajender, who succumbed to injuries in the hospital. The injured has been admitted to PGI, Rohtak, Deendayal hospital, Bahadurgarh and Safdarjung hospitals of Delhi.
The accident occured around 0804 hrs, and the track was cleared almost an hour later. A crane was rushed to the site and a medical team was sent to help the injured, a Northern Railway spokesman said.
The engine of the train had to be replaced following the accident.
Senior Railway officials rushed to the spot. An ex-gratia of Rs 500 for those with simple injuries and Rs 5000 for the seriously injured were given.
