'Intervene against mindless violence in Kerala:Advani asks Centre
New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) Expressing concern over the unabated violence against RSS workers in Kerala, Leader of Opposition L K Advani today asked the Centre to intervene immediately taking note of the ''mindless violence'' in some districts of the state.
In a statement, Mr Advani said Home Minister Shivraj Patil has assured him that the Centre would intevene to restore normalcy in the state after he took up the issue of ''CPI-M goons'' hacking five BJP/RSS workers on March 5.
Those who have been attacked include Mr M P Sumesh a respected RSS worker who was assaulted while coming out of a hotel. He suffered multiple injuries and was in the intensive care unit of Calicut Medical College hospital. The next day Nikhil, a lorry cleaner and Satyan a construction worker were killed in separate incidents by suspected cadre of the ruling CPI-M, the statement said.
Two more Opposition workers Vinayan and Ranjit were attacked and were being treated in Medical College, Calicut.
Detailing the attacks by the CPI-M cadres, Mr Advani said Sherin was attacked at Tellicherry on November 3 and two more Opposition workers Biju and Jithu were targeted. ''One of them had become invalid and immobile after the political goons cut off three fingers in the hand and one in the leg,'' the statement claimed.
