Hajipur becomes first all women personnel railway station in country

Hajipur, Mar 8 (UNI) Hajipur station has become the first Railway station in the country to be operated by all women personnel to mark International Women's Day.

Addressing a function, organised here to mark the occasion, manager of Sonepur rail division Pramod Kumar said here today the entire operation of the Hajipur station had been handed over to women personnel.

Apart from technical responsibilities, reservation, inquiry and ticket collection services would be mangaged by the women staff, he added.

Describing it as historic moment in Indian Railways, Mr Kumar said there were 271 women staff out of 12,000 employess, working under the Sonepur division of the East Central Railway.
