Fog causes tripping in Northern Power Grid for second day

Chandigarh, Mar 8 (UNI) Dense fog caused tripping of many lines of the Northern Power Grid on second day today affecting power supply in parts of Haryana and Punjab.

A spokesman of the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) said here today that due to dense fog in the morning a number of 400 KV lines of the Northeren Grid including Bassi-Hisar, Bawana-Hisar, Dehar-Bhiwani, Moga-Fatehabad, Hisar-Patiala among others, tripped affecting power supply mainly in districts Hisar, Fatehabad, Sirsa, Bhiwani and Narnaul in the area of DHBVN.

Three units of Panipat Thermal Power Station also tripped. Due to tripping of these 400 KV lines the 220 KV lines in Haryana including PTPS Circuit 1 and 2, PTPS-Jind, PTPS-Rohtak, Hisa Power Grid, Hisar BBMB, Hisar-Narwana, Narwana-Fatehabad, Dadri-Mahendragarh among others, were not working for many hours in the morning.

The supplies were however, soon restored for essential services like drinking water in the area. The power supply was normal by the afternoon, he said.
