Economic empowerment of women necessary, says Una DC
Una, Mar 8 (UNI) Economic empowerment and education was the ''key'' for women's uplift in the Indian context, said Deputy Commissioner Padam Singh Chauhan here today.
Presiding over the district-level Women's day programme, he said political, social and general awareness would further ensure removal of gender bias in the local society.
Speaking on the occasion, Judicial Magistrate Abira Basu of the Una district courts said growing incidents of female foeticide and domestic violence against women was a cause of concern. She also deliberated on the legal rights of the women.
Additional Superintendent of Police Madhusudan Sharma and District Welfare Officer RL Sharma also spoke on the occasion.
