Custody death: Court rejects cops' bail
Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Mar 8 (UNI) The Chhattisgarh High Court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of this district's Pankhajur Station House Officer (SHO) and Head Constable in connection of an accused's death under custody.
Single Bench of Justice Lalchand Bhadu rejected the anticipatory bail plea of SHO Gopikrishan Arya and Head Constable Sukhdev Majumdar yesterday. The court said Dileram was illegally confined and harassed at the police station.
Dileram, resident of Bastar division's Pankhajur area, was arrested for allegedly killing a man Gautam and was put in police station for interrogation from April 19, 2007 to April 25, 2007.
Meanwhile, allegedly being irked over police tyrannies, he hanged himself in the station. While the cops were transferred and a case was registered against the cops. Accused sent bail pleas twice in the lower courts which were rejected.
