Abandoned baby girl recovered from bushes in Jammu

Jammu, Mar 8 (UNI) A newly-born girl was found abandoned in the bushes at Janipura locality in the city outskirts here today as the state observes International Women's Day.

Some locals informed the police after they found a newly born girl crying in a bush on the roadside in Janipur area this afternoon, sources told UNI.

''Baby was immediately shifted to the SMGS hospital by the police,'' sources said, adding the whereabouts of her parents could not be ascertained.

''The girl child was put under the observation in the hospital and was stated to be normal. She will be kept under observation for some more time,'' SMGS superintendent Dr Yash Pal Sharma told UNI.

Dr Sharma said some people had started approaching the hospital to adopt the girl child.
