Railway to sensitise passengers against drug menace
Patna, Mar 7 (UNI) Concerned over incidents of drugging of passengers by anti-social elements with motive to loot, the railway authorities have launched a special awareness drive among passengers in Danapur division to check the menace.
Sources at the railway headquarters here today said in order to make the passengers aware against such crimes, the railway employees were organising street plays at various places, specially at the railway stations.
The sources further said such plays had been held at Patna junction, Ara, Buxar and Fatuha railway stations. The department was also planning to hold such plays on the running trains to sensitise the passengers against the drug menace. Through these plays, the passengers were being cautioned not to take any eatables from strangers during their journey.
Such script of the plays, prepared by the railway employees, were mostly in the local dialect so that even the illiterates can also grasp the message.
The railway sources said so far, this year, there had already been about 100 cases of passengers being drugged on running trains and subsequently robbed of their belongings, whereas last year about 400 such cases were registered.
