Opposition parties in Pak get support of independents

Islamabad, Mar 7 : The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday said that political parties that are opposing President Pervez Musharraf have won the allegiance of 11 independent Member of National Assembly (MNA).

The Pakistan People's Party managed to induct seven independents into the party, while four of them have joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), said a report issued by the commission.

The election commission also said that 18 parliamentarians would remain independent.

The PPP now has 120 MNAs in the 342-seat National Assembly, the commission said.

The PML-N has 90, while the PML-Q has 51. The election commission said 11 seats in the National Assembly remain vacant, the Dawn reported.
