New Honours for Prof C N R Rao

Bangalore, Mar 7 (UNI) Professor C N R Rao, National Research Professor and Honorary President of the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research here has been awarded the 'Nikkei Asia Prize' for Science, Technology and Innovation by the Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Inc. (Nikkei), the Publisher of Japan's leading business newspaper.

According to a release issued by the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research today, the award was given in recognition of his distinguished contributions to chemical spectroscopy, molecular spectra and chemistry of advanced materials.

Prof. Rao would receive the prize on May 21 in Tokyo. Also, Prof Rao has been invited as distinguished Visiting Professor by the University of California, Berkeley, the release added.
