Mysterious death of Peacocks reported in Jaisalmar district

Jaisalmer, Mar 7 (UNI) Almost a dozen peacocks have died under mysterious circumstances in Swamiji Ki Dhani area in Fatehgarh Sub-division of this district during the past four to five days.

SHO of the Phalsund police station R S Rajpurohit, who visited the hamlet, said carcass and remains of the National birds were scattered in a stretch of two to three kms.

He further said several peacocks visited the hamlet in search of daily feed.

Prima facie, it appeared that the birds died of some unknown disease. The police was probing into the matter.

Wild Life Advisory Board Member Rajpal Singh Shekhawat, however, suspected that consumption of poisoned feed was the reason behind the deaths.
