Musharraf vows full support to new coalition
Islamabad, Mar 7 (UNI) Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf today said the incoming coalition government in the country would get his fullest support and he would summon the National Assembly session in a week or two.
Addressing a gathering in Jacobabad at the inauguration of a water supply scheme, he said, ''I will fully support the new government.'' He said it was vital for the political parties to focus efforts on formation of a stable government for the next five years, the APP reported.
Terming the election of the moderates and rejection of the extremists, particularly in the NWFP, ''a positive development'', the President said, ''Now we must concentrate on sustaining the economic growth and continue the fight against extremism and terrorism.'' He said there was a need for strong governments both at the federal and provincial levels for the next five years to achieve this objective.
He said the world has acknowledged the holding of free, fair, transparent and peaceful elections in the country, and people should now question those who levelled baseless allegations about massive rigging in the February 18 polls.
