Left to create history in Tripura : Jyoti Basu

Kolkata, Mar 7 (UNI) Veteran Marxist leader Jyoti Basu today described the CPI(M)-led Left Front's landslide victory in Tripura as ''remarkable'' and said the Front had carved a niche for itself on the lines of West Bengal.

Mr Basu said, ''This is a great victory. We have already created history in West Bengal and it will be repeated in Tripura.'' He said the victory indicated the people's verdict against the the Opposition campaign.

The Left Front garnered two-third majority in the Assembly election, bagging 49 out of the 60 seats.
