Jaswant Singh urges CEC not to delay K'nataka Assembly polls
Chennai, Mar 7 (UNI) Veteran BJP leader and former Union Finance Minister Jaswant Singh today urged the Election Commission to conduct the Assembly polls in Karnataka without any further delay.
Talking to reporters at the airport here, he said ''as per the rule, the CEC can postpone the elections only in the case of any natural disaster or in the case of any law and order problem.'' ''Since, the state does not have such problems, the CEC can hold the the elections at the earliest,'' he observed.
On whether he would meet AIADMK Supremo Jayalalithaa during his visit, he said ''if situation arises, I would meet her.'' However, Mr Singh made it very clear that there would not be any political dialogue if he meets Ms Jayalalithaa.
