DAN hopeful of getting majority to form Govt: Rio

Kohima, Mar 7 (UNI) Outgoing Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today reiterated that the Nagaland Peoples Front (NPF) alongwith DAN partners-- BJP, NCP and JD (U)-- combine will attain absolute majority and form the next government.

Addressing a press conference here this afternoon, Mr Rio said amid non-cooperation from all quarters and the entire state machinery being 'manipulated' by the Congress, the people's court will give their verdict in favour of the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland in the March 3 elections.

He alleged that though NPF was not allowed to use helicopters, the Congress had extensively used it for election campaign.

Mr Rio said following the instructions of some ''unknown'' authorities, the Indian Reserved Battalion was withdrawn from some parts of the Mokokchung district and the underground cadres had freely intimidated the people to cast their votes in favour of the Congress.

He further alleged that some of the Election Commission Observers favouring the Congress had damaged his party's image in many places of the state.

He welcomed all like-minded parties to join the DAN as the NPF was sure to win the elections to form the next Government in the State.
