CPI(ML) leader remanded to judicial custody till March 20
Barasat, Mar 7 (UNI) A local court today rejected a petition urging rights of a political prisoner in favour of a CPI(ML) leader and remanded him to judicial custody till March 20.
Somen alias Himadri Sen Roy, local secretary of the CPI(ML), was on police remand since February 24 as ordered by the ACJM and produced before CJM Sumitra Roy here today.
Three lawyers, who appeared for the accused leader, facing as many as seven sections of the IPC, urged for his rights as a political prisoner and drew the attention of the court to the indisposition of the accused.
However, the CJM rejected his petition and directed the jail authorities to make arrangements for medical check up of the accused.
The former People's War Group leader was apprehended by the West Bengal CID from Hridaypur railway station near here on February 23.
